Tina Knowles denies ‘fake’ response of her shading Dolly Parton’s comments about Beyonce’s 2024 CMA Awards nomination snub

Tina Knowles has denied her alleged reaction to Dolly Parton’s comments about Beyoncé being snubbed at the 2024 CMA Awards.

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted from her account, the mother of the 70-year-old Texas Hold ‘Em singer responded to Parton, saying that Beyoncé may not have been nominated because the “country music world” prioritized country artists who had been in the genre “their whole lives.”

The 78-year-old’s first deleted comment read: ‘Oh Ms. Dolly, we love you but Bey has worked hard her ENTIRE life since she was 9! She has country roots too. She has mastered her craft and broken records in EVERY genre. So to say she hasn’t ‘spent her life’ in country music negates all the work she has put into it.

“Bey doesn’t have to stay in one lane to get respect – her talent and work ethic speaks for itself! She’s worked hard and no one else is asked to spend “their life” in one place to be recognized! #been country,” she said.

After receiving criticism on Thursday, Knowles claimed she didn’t make the post, writing under another Instagram post: “This is fake, not from me” after.

Parton defended the CMA Awards, saying Variety: ‘There are so many great country artists that the country music world probably thought, well, we can’t leave out some of the people who have been doing this their whole lives.’

The Jolene singer added: “But I didn’t realize it myself until someone asked me that question.”

Parton praised the hit, calling Cowboy Carter “a beautiful album” that Beyoncé, 43, “can be very, very proud of.”

The 9 to 5 singer added that she thinks “everyone in country music welcomed her and was like, ‘That’s good.’”

Parton said she didn’t feel like Beyoncé was being deliberately ignored because of her foray into the country genre, which also included a remake of her own song “Jolene.”

“I don’t think it was a matter of exclusion, like you were doing it on purpose,” Parton said. “I think it was just more what the country charts and country artists do, which they do all the time, not just a special album.”

Parton continued, “I’ve been fortunate enough to be on both albums. Well, Jolene was on Beyoncé’s, and I thought that was a great album.”

The Islands in the Stream artist touched on Beyoncé’s background, saying, “She’s a country girl from Texas and Louisiana, so she grew up with that foundation. It wasn’t like she just appeared out of nowhere.”

Parton said she was “open to anything” regarding a potential collaboration with Beyoncé.

Fans were disappointed when Beyoncé was nowhere to be seen when the nominations for the 58th annual CMA Awards were announced on Monday.

Although her groundbreaking country album Cowboy Carter made waves with hits like Texas Hold ‘Em, Amen and Oh Louisiana, she received no recognition for the collaboration.

This year’s Country Music Association Awards will be held on November 20, 2024 at 5:00 PM PST, live from Nashville, Tennessee.
