A Federal High Court in Abuja has set September 23 for judgment in a suit seeking the removal of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The initial judgment date was September 18, but Justice Inyang Ekwo rescheduled it to September 23 as the judgment was not ready, the court’s registrar informed journalists yesterday.
The suit was filed by the North Central APC Forum led by Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga from Plateau State, which argues that Ganduje’s chairmanship breaches the provisions of Article 7(vii) and (ix) of the APC Constitution. The forum contends that the 2022 National Convention reached a consensus that the National Chairman from 2022 to 2026 should be from the North Central Geopolitical Zone.
Ganduje’s counsel, Ishaka Mohammed Diko (SAN), has requested the court to dismiss the suit, asserting that the election that appointed Ganduje as APC National Chairman was conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution.
