Water Tank Maintenance Scheduled in Morganton

The City of Morganton Water Department has scheduled water tank maintenance in the distribution system for the week of the September 23. The work could take up to two weeks to complete.

Crews will take the water tank on Valdese Avenue offline on September 20 to allow the tank to drain over the weekend. There will be noticeable water in the road on Valdese Avenue.

Tanks that will be affected are the Salem Tank in the Salem pressure zone, Lake James Tank in the Lake James pressure zone, and the Valdese Avenue Tank in the main pressure zone. Those tanks will be offline during the maintenance period. Dale Circle Tank, Glen Alpine Tank, Piedmont Road Tank, Astro Tank, and Piney Tanks are all scheduled for exterior work and will not be offline during the maintenance period unless otherwise notified.

Starting October 14, the Grandview Tank in the Oakhill pressure zone will be offline due to interior renovations. Those renovations are expected to take four weeks to complete. Customers in the Frank Whisnant Road area of the Oakhill community may experience issues. The Oakhill Tank will also have exterior renovations. The tank will remain online unless otherwise notified.

Customers in the affected areas may experience pressure issues and discoloration. Call the city’s water department at 828-438-5276 with any concerns.
