USOPM celebrates Sports Giving Day with free admission on Sept. 21

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — In celebration of Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day, the United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum (USOPM) will offer free admission on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day is part of a statewide initiative running until Sept. 30 that is meant to engage attendees with various organizations and learn about different opportunities for children to get involved in organized sports.

“As we celebrate Colorado Youth Sports Giving Day, we’re reminded of the role sports play in shaping not only champions but successful individuals,” said Hanna Skandera, President & CEO of the Daniels Fund. “By investing in youth sports today, we ensure every child has the opportunity to grow, thrive, and maybe even represent our nation on the world stage in the future. We are proud to partner with the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum on this initiative, creating opportunities for families to engage with sports and experience the inspiration of our greatest athletes firsthand.”

The community is invited to explore the museum’s world-class exhibits, meet TEAM USA athletes, and connect with local youth sports organizations, supporting efforts to increase youth participation in sports across the state.

Walk-up tickets are available, however, guests are encouraged to reserve their free admission tickets online.

“This free admission day at the museum is a wonderful opportunity for families to explore the inspiring stories of our Olympic and Paralympic athletes while also connecting with local youth sports organizations,” said Marisa Wigglesworth, CEO of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum. “We are thrilled to partner with the Daniels Fund on this important initiative that not only highlights the importance of youth sports but also provides access to the museum’s world-class exhibits.”

Guests will have the opportunity to meet Olympians and Paralympians including Jenny Arthur, T.C. Carter, Omari Jones, Kevin McDowell, and Kara Winger. The athletes will share their stories and the impact of sports on their lives.

That day, the museum will also celebrate the naming of the Bill Daniels Gallery of Inspiration, which is dedicated to inspiring visitors and encouraging youth participation in sports by showcasing the Olympic and Paralympic spirit of perseverance, determination, and sports.
