On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash on MS-547 near Mount Pleasant Rd. in Claiborne County.
A 2013 Infiniti Q70 sedan driven by 44-year-old Shenetra W. Johnson of Pattison, MS, was traveling northbound on MS-547. A 2003 Nissan Frontier driven by 39-year-old Yefri W. Castillo-Sierra of Metairie, LA, was traveling southbound on MS-547. Both vehicles collided head-on. Shenetra W. Johnson received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Yefri W. Castillo-Sierra was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS, with serious injuries.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
