BET has announced the nominees for the 19th annual BET Hip Hop Awards, set to take place in Las Vegas, NV, on 08 October 2024.
This year’s list celebrates some of the biggest names in hip-hop, and African talent is making major waves once again.
Burna Boy, one of Africa’s biggest global stars, received a nomination in the prestigious ‘Best Live Performer‘ category. He will be competing with hip-hop heavyweights like Drake, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, and Travis Scott, proving his massive influence beyond just African borders.
In the ‘Best International Flow‘ category, South Africa’s Maglera Doe Boy and Blxckie are making the nation proud, earning nominations alongside Nigeria’s rising star, Odumodublvck. This category continues to recognize the global reach of hip-hop, highlighting the talents of artists who are pushing boundaries on an international scale.
On the intenrantional front, the competition is just as fierce. Megan Thee Stallion dominates this year’s nominations with an impressive twelve nods, leading the pack in categories like ‘Best Hip Hop Video’ and ‘Hustler of the Year.’ Close behind is Kendrick Lamar with eleven nominations, followed by Drake with eight. Other big names like Cardi B, GloRilla, Metro Boomin, and Nicki Minaj each scored seven nominations, while Future and Travis Scott racked up six.
The 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards will air on BET DStv Channel 129, on Wednesday, 16 October, 2024, at 03:00 CAT.
