Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Soccer Upends 18th Ranked Lincoln Memorial on the Road

It was quality over quantity for the Bears on Wednesday. Despite getting outshot 20-9, Lenoir-Rhyne used a 7-6 advantage on shots-on-goal to grab a 2-0 victory at No. 18 Lincoln Memorial. This marks the fifth straight victory for the Bears over the Railsplitters.

Fran Tita scored in the 12th minute on the Bear’s second shot of the game. It was his first career goal. Just a few minutes later, a Daniel Martinez attempt was saved by the LMU goalkeeper.

In the second half, Raul Canas scored the game’s second goal in the 67th minute. For Canas, it was his second career goal. Harri Rowe assisted both goals. Rowe now sits at 14 career assists, tying him for 10th all-time in LR history.

Cathal Carney made two saves in the final five minutes to keep the Railsplitters at bay.  Carney finished the game with six saves.

LRU failed to register a corner kick in the game.

This is the Bear’s fourth straight shutout victory over LMU. Lenoir-Rhyne is the only team to shutout LMU since Wingate on Oct. 15, 2022.

Lenoir-Rhyne improves to 1-1 overall, 1-0 in conference action as this opened up South Atlantic Conference play for the Bears. LR will play host their first home match of the season on Saturday when they welcome Emory & Henry to Hickory. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
