Dr. Willie Ong, a well-known Filipino cardiologist and online health influencer, recently shared that he is battling a serious type of cancer called sarcoma. He posted this news on his Facebook and YouTube accounts on September 14, 2024.
Dr. Willie Ong’s Cancer Battle
Dr. Ong, who is 60 years old, said he has a very large tumor in his stomach and abdomen. He has been feeling symptoms like shortness of breath, fatigue, and trouble swallowing since April 2023. Despite the seriousness of his condition, Dr. Ong is determined to fight the cancer and stay positive.
He mentioned that the tumor is so big that it’s one of the largest doctors have seen. Dr. Ong is receiving treatment abroad and chemotherapy. In a video he posted, he spoke about his struggles with pain and difficulty breathing.
He also explained that he has had a tough time with his cancer, but he is trying to stay hopeful and at peace. He believes stress might have contributed to his illness but is focused on getting better. Dr. Ong is well-known in the Philippines for giving health advice online. He has a large following on social media and has written many medical books.
The post read, “Doc Willie’s Battle Against Cancer. Diagnosis: 16x13x12 centimeter SARCOMA in the abdomen. The tumor was hidden behind the heart and in front of the T10 Spine. The mass partially/completely blocked Doc Willie’s esophagus, Inferior vena cava, and right atrium.”
He also founded a medical museum in the Philippines and has worked as a consultant for the Department of Health. In addition, he ran for political office in the past but did not win. He has been married to fellow doctor Anna Liza Ong since 1993, and they have two daughters.
Together, they have helped many people in need and provided free medical care and support. Despite his illness, Dr. Ong continues to inspire others with his dedication to health and kindness.
