Morganton Woman Charged With Drug Offenses

53-year-old Michelle Danner Durrance, who is listed as a homeless person from Morganton, was arrested last Friday (September 13) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony counts of possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of controlled substance on prison or jail premises along with misdemeanor counts of simple possession of schedule V controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Durrance was arrested shortly before 7:30 a.m. Friday at a business address on South Sterling Street in Morganton. During the investigation, which occurred in a restaurant parking lot, police reportedly found 40 dosage units of pregabalin, which is also known as lyrica, a schedule V controlled substance that is an anticonvulsant. Police also report the discovery of .1 grams of methamphetamine during their investigation.

Durrance was confined in the Burke County Jail following her arrest under $11,500 secured bond. She remained in jail as of earlier today. A District Court date is scheduled for October 7.
