THE original Balamory cast have teased that the show’s iconic reboot after 20 years could be bigger than the recent Oasis reunion.
Earlier today it was revealed that the CBeebies show would be making a comeback with TWO brand new series in 2026.

The fan favourite programme originally aired between 2002 and 2005 and became one of the most notable kids TV shows from the Beeb.
Set in Balamory, based and filmed on the island of Tobermory in Scotland, the pre-school hit saw a slew of characters including Miss Hoolie, Josie Jump and PC Plum.
Now, some of the show’s original cast have hinted that they could be back once again ahead of the show’s hotly anticipated re-launch.
The show’s leading actress Julie Wilson Nimmo admitted that it was “the craziest and best news ever” that the programme was returning in a new interview with the Daily Record.
Julie then quipped: “I seriously think this is bigger than the Oasis reunion.”
Elsewhere, PC Plum star Andrew Agnew admitted it was just a case of getting the phone call from the BBC when asked if he would sign up for the reboot.
He confessed to BBC Scotland that the show “needed” its original stars in order to be a success.
Andrew told the Lunchtime Live programme: “If they ask me to go back then I’ll absolutely be there with bells on, I’m sure.
“But at the moment we’re all just getting excited at the fact that it’s happening.
“I don’t think it would be same if we weren’t involved in it.
“I think it needs us.”
However, he went on to say that PC Plum was unlikely to have received any sort of promotion in the 19 years since viewers last saw him.
He added: “I think he’d still be doing his day-to-day job because that’s what he loved.
“He loved looking after people, the wildlife, the whole thing.”

Although the Beeb has committed to two series of the show, many details surrounding its production are yet to be agreed or worked out.
The programme may make a return to Tobermory but new locations such as Rothesay on the Isle of Bute have also been touted.
A total of 20 14-minute episodes have been ordered to air throughout 2026 on CBeebies.
Kate Morton, the channel’s head of commissioning said: “A whole new generation will discover and enjoy Balamory as we bring families together with this new update for CBeebies.

The cast celebrated the show’s 20th anniversary together two years ago with Julie and Andrew appearing on This Morning to discuss the show’s legacy.
Many episodes of the programme also found themselves being re-uploaded to BBC iPlayer to mark the achievement.
