A RECAP OF WHAT WENT DOWN AT SPOTIFY MOM IN CAPE TOWN

We stopped by Cape Town to check out Spotify’s MOM (Mother of Music), which took over with a 4-day musical experience, filling the city with non-stop celebrations. The event takeover was nothing short of a spectacular vibes, bringing the community together to celebrate local music and artists across different genres. A true showcase of talent, culture, and connection,

The first day was with “MOM First Thursdays,” where multiple venues hosted thrilling music-filled events, including Shelflife and Texas. At Shelflife, the iconic Bra Hugh Masekela was honoured with a tribute in collaboration with the Hugh Masekela Heritage Foundation (HMHF).

Along with fantastic music, attendees explored a photo gallery showcasing Bra Hugh and copped exclusive Spotify x HMHF x Shelflife Capsule Collection merch.

Friday was another unforgettable day, starting with the Soul Mix and Soft Soul Mix playlist fans gathering at Selective Live for a soulful night featuring Hunter Rose and KashCPT. The party continued at Texas with an electrifying Isyaadt Party hosted by KDOLLAHZ, and later, we headed to Paarden Eiland for MOM at 10 Natal St, where DJs like Vigro Deep, Lelowhatsgood, and Kyle Russouw kept the energy alive.

Saturday was a massive day, beginning with a Springboks vs. All Blacks watch party at Texas, followed by the Street Play event on Harrington Street. The lineup was packed with performances from Manana, Internet Girl, Ziggy4x, Kay Faith, and HONEYMOAN. Dee Koala’s 4 The KHALTSHA SHOWCASE also brought fire performances from Dee Koala, YoungstaCPT, Hypno, Leezy Lindokuhle, and more.

To wrap up the weekend, Sunday’s RANDS SUNDAE WITH MOM featured a chilled vibe, a silent disco, and a grand finale with DBN Gogo and resident DJs Shayi, MaBooty, Luyar, Fizz & Shai-A. Throughout the event, fans got their hands on fresh MOM merch, from t-shirts to accessories.
