Thousands of people applied to E4 to take part Married At First Sight UK but Alex Henry is one of the few who has been selected to join the line-up.

Hailing from Birmingham, the 28-year-old works in Aviation Operations and says he is “focused and driven”.

He revealed he knows the meaning of “work hard and play hard”.

Alex revealed how his ambition is to fulfil his dream of being a professional boxer.

He said he has been single for seven months but is now ready to find love again

Alex wants a woman he can bring home to meet his mum.

He said he is looking for “someone who has depth” and who will “keep him on his toes”, so he doesn’t “get bored”.

Joining MAFS

Alex is on TV as part of the line-up for Married At First Sight UK 2024.

The relationship experiment series is now in its ninth series, and fans are being promised more drama than ever.

The new series kicks off on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 9pm on E4, and will then air on weekdays except for Fridays.

Hoping to find love

Alex is hoping MAFS experts Paul C Brunson and Mel Schilling will help find him his “best match”.

He chose to sign up for Married At First Sight as he thinks he is “going wrong”, when it comes to romance.

He was chosen out of thousands of applicants, and will now marry a stranger in front of millions of viewers.

Speaking to Channel 4 before walking down the aisle, Alex said: “Maybe the experts can help me work out where I’ve been going wrong.”

He added that he wanted to rid himself of his “man about town” reputation and find a stable relationship.

Controversial groom

After it was revealed that Alex was going to be on MAFS 2024, allegations against him were made to Channel 4 about his alleged past behaviour around women.

A group of women clubbed together to petition the broadcaster to reconsider airing scenes that include him on the show.

They say they have presented evidence of their allegations to Channel 4.

Despite acknowledging the claims, the broadcaster released a statement confirming Alex will remain in the edit.

A message read: “MAFS UK was filmed several months ago and is not live, so Alexander will feature in the programs that have been edited and are due for broadcast later this month. There will also be promotional activity on the channel’s social media platforms during this time, in which Alexander may appear.”

When approached by The Sun, a Channel 4 spokesperson said: “MAFS UK contributors are subject to rigorous background vetting, including multiple independent psychological evaluations and a criminal record check before they can be cleared to take part.

“We cast contributors based on the information we are legally able to access and we continue to review this process to ensure checks are as thorough as legally possible.”

Following this news, it then emerged that Alex was sent to military jail after he went AWOL from the RAF so that he could film MAFS.

The Sun exclusively reported how he abandoned his post at an electronic warfare base to try to find love and fame on Channel 4’s dating show.

The Air Specialist was refused extra leave by his commander at RAF Spadeadam, Cumbria, to take part in the TV show but went anyway.

He was seized by military police when he returned and was sentenced to 34 days in a military prison – he served 24 days before being sacked.

Henry’s spokesman said: “He returned after filming of his own volition and handed himself into the military authorities.

“He was sentenced to 34 days in a military prison and served 24 as a model inmate.”

The RAF said it could not comment.
