Shoppers rushing to buy camping essential scanning for £34 instead of £200

MOUNTAIN Warehouse shoppers are rushing out to buy a camping essential scanning for £34 instead of £200.

The outdoor retailer is selling a pop up sun shelter for a fraction of the full price.

One shopper shared the buy on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page saying it was reduced to £40.

But the savvy saver also used their Blue Light Card to get an extra £6 off, meaning it scanned through for £34.

Blue Light Cards are discount cards available to NHS and other public sector workers which means not everyone will be able to get the shelter for £34, but could still get it for £40.

Hundreds of fellow shoppers have liked and commented on the Extreme Couponing post heaping praise on the bargain.

One, tagging a friend, said: “Wow look at this…”

Meanwhile, a second tagging a friend, added: “What we need on the beach”.

Bear in mind, you might not find the sun shelter in your local Mountain Warehouse branch and we couldn’t find it online.

It might be worth calling your nearest store to see if it has any in stock and for the discounted price.

You can find your nearest Mountain Warehouse store by using the retailer’s store locator tool on its website.

Also remember, a deal is only a deal if you were going to buy it in the first place and don’t buy a product just because it is discounted.

Plus, make sure you shop around to ensure you are getting the best price.

You can use websites like Trolley and Price Spy which compare prices on thousands of items across online retailers.

Meanwhile, the Google Shopping/Product tab lets you scan the internet to see how much different online retailers are selling a particular item for.

We had a quick look online to see how much other retailers are selling the same Mountain Warehouse sun shelter for, however none have the exact same one in stock.

Amazon is selling an Easthills shader beach tent for £39.99 though, which also comes with a £4.99 delivery charge, but that might take your fancy more.

In other deals news, B&M shoppers are rushing to buy a kitchen essential scanning for just 10p instead of £2.99.

The retailer is selling a slotted turner ideal for flipping eggs for the bargain price.

Meanwhile, Aldi shoppers have spotted a baby essential selling for 99p instead of £2.99.

The baby changer was picked up by one customer in their local branch who posted the find on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page.

And in other retail news, John Lewis and Home Bargains have both confirmed they will close on Boxing Day this year.

Plus, Lidl shoppers have been rushing to buy an energy-saving gadget scanning for £14.99 instead of £29.99.

How to bag a bargain

SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…

Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.

Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.

Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.

Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.

Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.

When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.

Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.

And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
