Bournemouth 0 Chelsea 1: Super-sub Christopher Nkunku snatches late Blues win after Jadon Sancho debut assist

CHRISTOPHER NKUNKU saved the day for Enzo Mareca’s men, coming on as a late substitute to win the game for Chelsea.

Chelsea may consider themselves lucky to be leaving the south coast with all three points, however.

Enzo Maresca wasn’t able to get his team ticking at the Vitality as he continues to try and get his tactical message across.

One message he may have for his players is “don’t clatter into the opposition in the box” – a message Robert Sanchez seemingly ignored in the first half.

The Spanish shot-stopper was done by Evanilson when Bournemouth’s Brazilian flicked the ball over him in the box.

Sanchez had nowhere to go and smashed into the summer arrival like a freight train, giving referee Anthony Taylor no choice but to point to the spot and dish out a yellow card.

But the Chelsea gloveman made amends for his mistake, diving low to his side to stop Evanilson’s resulting spot kick and keep the game scoreless.

Most teams are able to kick on after a penalty save – as was shown by Man Utd against Southampton earlier today – but not Chelsea.

They continued to face wave after wave of attack from the Cherries until they could get in at half time.

The second half was better from Maresca’s men with a promising cameo from deadline day arrival Jadon Sancho.

And it was he who eventually set up substitute Christopher Nkunku off the bench to snatch all three points for Chelsea.
